Team: Walsall Learning Disabilities CAMHS  

Base: Canalside, Bloxwich, Walsall

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to take up a position within our Learning Disability-CAMHS team. This opportunity is open to a registered nurse who is RNLD or RMN trained and skilled in working with young people with moderate to severe learning disability, complex mental health needs and/or significant behavior of concern within a community setting.

You will join a friendly and enthusiastic specialist team, which is embedded within the wider Child and Adolescent Mental Heath Service. We have a strong culture of staff support and training. Clinical, management and peer supervision are available on a regular basis.

Working for our organisation

We work with young people who have a wide range of needs in an inclusive way. You will hold a varied caseload and provide specialist assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people with a learning disability who have significant behaviour of concern and/or complex mental health difficulties. There are opportunities for the post holder be become involved in research and service development initiatives as well as training and supervision of staff.

In addition to the advertised post, Walsall LD-CAMHS is comprised of a Clinical Psychologists, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist and Assistant Psychologist.

The team works closely with other multi-agency teams and in a range of community settings. We will work closely with the newly established Black Country Intensive Support Service.

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Professional Qualification RNLD/RMN
  • • NMC Registration or other relevant professional registration
  • • Evidence of CPD and professional portfolio
  • • Experience of working with children and families with complex additional needs, learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions with mental Health problems/significant behaviours that challenge
Desirable criteria
  • • Proven post qualification experience of working with LD-CAMHS
  • • Clinical leadership experience
