The Physical Health Psychology Service is a team of psychologists, therapists and counsellors who aim to assist people in adapting to and developing creative solutions for physical health problems. The BCPFT Physical Health Psychology Service currently operates across 3 geographical patches (Dudley, Wolverhampton and Sandwell and West Birmingham) with a number of contracts in each area. This post will be based at Dudley, Cross Street Health Centre/ Russell’s Hall Hospital/Guest Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to work alongside our colleagues at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley to develop a rehabilitation service for critical care patients. The post-holder will join a multi-professional critical care team at an exciting time of development. This role will include: Assessing and supporting patients with psychological difficulty following ICU admission; Liaising with, and making referrals and/or recommendations to, local services and working closely with MDT colleagues in ICU team to developing shared formulations and treatment plans for patients.

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual with a keenness and ability to integrate your current skills and apply them in this context. Experience of working in a physical health setting is essential. The most important qualities are good communication skills, working co-operatively and thinking creatively.

The post will be based at Dudley but professionally allied with the Physical Health Psychology Service, with all the associated benefits of professional development, supervision and peer support.

The post holder will have opportunities for personal support and development via the Trust appraisal system. We welcome the opportunities for preceptorship with us as we know if you have any placement experience this will be very valuable.

Please note this role cannot be fulfilled in one long day and preferred working days are a Thursday and one other.
